What is the event?
The WSCC Autism and Social Communication Team with the University of Sussex present:
“Making Sense of Sensory Differences” – a one day conference linking the sensory experiences of children and adults with autism with the science behind sensory differences.
The conference will bring together researchers into a range of sensory differences with adults on the spectrum who will share their sensory experiences and the strategies that help them.
The day will include talks on hyper-sensitivity (to sound, light, smell, etc); bodily sensitivity (anxiety and heartbeat); autism and synaesthesia (a ‘merging of the senses’).
Those attending will hear from:
Leading researcher from the Universities of Glasgow, Nottingham, Sussex
Prof David Baguley, Prof Sarah Garfinkel, Dr James Hughes,
Dr David Simmons, Prof Julia Simner and Prof Jamie Ward
As well as from people with autism or synaesthesia sharing their experiences and what helps them
