Planning for the Future Decision Making - Virtual Presentation

Event

What is the event?

Philip Warford of Renaissance Legal will present a Decision Making Seminar to Parents and Carers.

This Seminar is about Decision Making which includes topics around the Court of Protection, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Mental Capacity.

Philip will talk about what the future holds when your child reaches 18. The fundamental principle is that no one has the right to make decisions on behalf of a person when they become an adult. The reality of this is not so clear cut.

If a person lacks the ability to make a decision then their mental capacity is questioned, Philip will explain the principles around mental capacity and what families and carers need to consider.

Philip will then go onto explain about Powers of Attorney. The appointment of someone to make decisions on behalf of a person with a learning disability, what and how they can be used. As well as what the Court of Protection is, what they do, timescales and charges.

The presentation will be for 45 minutes followed by a fifteen minute questions and answers session.

This free event is a ticket only event. Tickets can be booked via Eventbrite.
