What is the event?

Eligibility This is a two hour for parents, carers and families of children and young people in West Sussex.

Course Content This session is delivered by a trainer with autism who is able to give a first person perspective of what it is like to be autistic.

By the end of this workshop students will be able to;

Identify key areas where education can be problematic for autistic adolescents; including the impact of a child’s sensory profile, communication difficulties and transition to college.

Review a range of strategies for mitigating issues in the learning environment both at home and at school.

Discuss a strategy and how it could be applied to their individual situation.

Identify types of support available at school and the community and the pathways to this support.

Getting to the Venue The nearest train station to K2 is Crawley and then there is a bus service next to the station, which runs every 15 minutes directly to the venue. There is plenty of free car parking on site, including disabled spaces very close to the leisure centre.

Timings The course runs from 11:00- 13:00. Please arrive in good time to allow for a prompt start.
