Autism and Girls


What is the event?

This is a 2 hour workshop for parents, carers and family members of children and young people in West Sussex. This session is delivered by a trainer with autism who is able to give a first person perspective of what it is like to be autistic and female.

By the end of this workshop students will be able to;

· Describe how girls on the Autistic Spectrum present differently to boys.

· Understand the diagnostic challenges for girls that can lead to misdiagnosis and late diagnosis

· Explain why girls on the autistic spectrum are more likely to mask their differences and how masking can impact mental health

· Explore suggestions to empower and support girls with ASC
